Bilbo Books Publishing and
Georgia Fine Arts Academy

I began working for Bilbo Books Publishing and the Georgia Fine Arts Academy as a Digital Media Intern in March 2023. The companies host joint events and are owned by the same people, so I am able to work for both organizations.

I run all social media for Bilbo Books Publishing, including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I wrote the press release and created the program for the Georgia Fine Arts Academy's 16th Café Apollinaire, sponsored by Bilbo Books Publishing. During the event I performed the technical work to run the show.

Café Apollinaire is BACK!

ATHENS, Ga., March 29, 2023 - The Georgia Fine Arts Academy presents its sixteenth Café Apollinaire, on Thursday, April 13 to be held at Ciné Athens, located at 234 W Hancock Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Café Apollinaire is named for the poet Guillaume Apollinaire, a champion of the arts and leader of the avant-garde, who coined the phrase "Surrealism."

This bi-annual "artsplosion" is hosted by Bowen Craig in memory of William "Bill" Bray who founded the Georgia Fine Arts Academy nonprofit in 1980. Bill's life mission was to mentor and encourage amateur young artists, just as Apollinaire did in Paris before and during World War I.

The Ciné Lab will be transformed to resemble an outdoor café on the streets of Paris where artists gathered to share ideas and discuss their work.

The McCollum Trio will open the evening with A Capella selections. We'll enjoy readings of short plays by students Wyn Thomas, Isabel Bobrik and Charlotte Leigh. The short new film “Escapism” will be featured, produced by brothers John and Gregory Bray. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Cameron Norton-McElroy will entertain the crowd with an original music performance. Fantasy and “dream fiction” author Rob E. White will deliver a reading from his novel Bubblegum Wasteland.

Our headlining performance will be an improvisational dance by Lisa Yaconelli titled “First Language”. The dance is inspired by the writings of those who attend Café Apollinaire and will feature a reading by Kelly Petronis along with Mark Katzman’s eastern classical guitar.

Per tradition, we will have the latest comedy sketch by Bowen Craig featuring Bryn Adamson, Josh Darnell, Skip Hulett, Sean Polite and Ginny Simmons.

The event is free to attend and open to all who are 21 and over. Café Apollinaire is not suitable for children as many performances feature adult content.

The sixteenth annual Café Apollinaire is generously sponsored by Bilbo Book Publishing and JOKERJOKERtv.
